Central African Republic
After experiencing a severe civil war for three years, Central Africa Republic voters are ready to exercise their civic national duty to select their leaders.
Many politicians have a hard time to convince voters from all the political divide. This is a case of Karim Meckassoua, a Muslim and a former minister who had to go the extra mile to reach out to non-supporters. just like other competitors, he his campaign is focused on reconciliation among parties. He has managed to break down the religious barrier and ethnic disparity during his speeches.
Supporters know him for being a perfect person who never distinguish between his followers in terms of religion. He has a larger number of followers from Bangui, including old and young women and children.
Karim Meckassoua has also launched quite a number of activities from the time when he was still serving as a minister. This presidential race is one thing he is very passionate about.
There are about 30 contestants vying for the presidency.
Party of former President Francois Bozize, and the URCA Dologuele Anicet, formed a coalition on Tuesday.
“We signed an electoral political agreement and Anicet is elected in the first round,” said Bea Bertin. According to the Secretary General of the KNK, Anicet Dologuele can create the calm condition for a reconciled country and especially give special attention to François Bozizé.
The nomination of François Bozizé was rejected by the Constitutional Court because of the international sanctions against him. He is accused of supporting criminal violence of Anti-Balaka militias against Muslim civilians.
Anicet G. Dologuele, former banker and prime minister, whose motto is “unity is now”, could not say if he will lift the arrest warrant issued by the Central Government against the former president. He said this was a legal question.
The presidential election for December 27 is one of the last hopes to reconciliation to Central Africa Republic after years of a conflict that has claimed several thousand lives.
